Children's Competition Winner Announced
As part of the restoration campaign, Primary Schools from across the Borders were invited to participate in a competition to paint or draw the best picture of Greenlaw Town Hall. The winner has been announced as 11 year old Jessica McCabe of Cockburnspath Primary School. Her charming portrayal of the Hall is now being used to promote the Hall in the ‘Restoration Village’ campaign, and to advertise the Greenlaw Country Fayre. All 70 pictures entered into the competition will be on display at the Fayre, including those of runners up Beth Campbell (2nd) of Greenlaw Primary, and Connor Brown (3rd) also of Cockburnspath Primary.
Competition judges were local artists Andy Brotherston, Janet Armstrong and Tony Huggins-Haig. Both Andy Brotherstone and Tony Huggins-Haig are amongst a number of artists who have donated paintings of Greenlaw Town Hall, and other subjects, to be auctioned to raise funds for the Hall. Edinburgh based auction house Bonham’s have kindly offered to help out with the event, but until a date is set for the auction the paintings remain on display at Tony Huggins-Haig’s gallery, the Arthouse, in Kelso. Any artists who wish to support the campaign by donating their work would be much appreciated!
