Greenlaw Town Hall's Future
Trustees and locals foresee a sustainable, community-focussed future for the Town Hall once restored. All kinds of options are currently being explored as to how the Hall can best provide all the services and uses Greenlaw wants from it, whilst at the same time being practically self funding so as to minimise cost to the community.
Various ongoing fundraising options for the Hall are being investigated, including the setting up of an endowment fund and renting office space within part of the hall. Civil weddings could provide an excellent source of income for the Hall, and community fund-raising events such as dances could be held on a regular basis to help subsidise community use.
A restored Town Hall would provide much needed local jobs and attract local businesses and be a meeting place for youth groups and the substantial elderly population. Suggestions for its use include a café, a learning centre, a meeting place for various village groups, and an entertainment venue.
